Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. This fan fiction is not true to the main storyline. The idea of the story is mine, yet the characters an their original plot is not, as this is just a spin-off due to sudden inspiration.

Author’s Note: Well, well, well… Apparently, I didn’t realize that I got new reviews.. or that people actually liked my ficlet ^^;;. I thank everyone for their reviews so far, and really, it’s the reviews that are making me continue ^^, they are the support I need. Um.. a note about my chapters.. I actually don’t have a storyline plotted out in my head, I write whatever I feel like, and however I feel that this story should take a twist towards.. Now.. it wouldn’t be nice if I held you here longer with my boring talk, now would it? On to the next chapter!

Chapter Six

“Ino.. I love you.”

“I love you, too. Shikamaru.” Blue eyes met brown as she stared into his eyes, for another of the countless times that night.

“I love you so much, I can’t bear to be without you.” Shikamaru, took Ino’s hand and placed it upon his cheek, nuzzling into her hand gently, with his eyes closed.

“Same as I, Shikamaru, I feel the same.” Ino stepped closer to him and leaned against him, resting her head on his shoulder, nuzzling his neck as he did the same to her hand.

“But.. would you feel the same if I..” Shikamaru wrapped his free arm around her waist and pressed her close to him, as he suddenly let go of her hand and cupped her face; bringing it up to meet his. His lips were hot against hers, and his tongue raked across her lower lip, leaving a burning hot sensation, asking for entry. Ino complied and her lips slid open against his, and he took the chance to probe into her mouth, to taste her, to claim her-

Ino blinked in surprise as she was tossed out of her most recent dream; her forehead was beaded with sweat as she looked around the familiar surroundings of her room. Her pillow had managed to find its way into her arms instead of under her head, and her blankets were wrapped tightly around her waist and legs.

“What was that..?!” Ino rubbed her eyes with the palm of her hand as she groaned and sat up, pushing herself up to dip her legs over the edge of the bed while attempting to untangle herself from her bed sheets.

The girl only managed in tangling herself up more, and falling unceremoniously out of bed. Finally untangling herself as she tumbled on the floor, she stood up again, brushing her hair out of her face as if nothing had happened. That was the normal Ino routine; act as if nothing happened, hope that no one noticed, preserve ego. Quite a charming little habit so to speak.

After her daily morning primping rituals, she grabbed some money on the way out to buy breakfast before heading down the street that lead to a small shop that sold onigiri, and sushi. Her face lit up in an unusually jovial smile, she literally bounced down the street, narrowing avoiding old women with bundles of groceries by twirling elatedly, albeit gracefully, out of their way.

Everything was going great. The last mission was great, yesterday night was great, her first kiss was great, and anything that was bad before was instantly great.

Skipping down the street after she had bought her onigiri, she pocketed it as soon as she spotted Shikamaru, apparently speaking to Asuma. Her smile grew wider as she was practically shaking to keep her elated behavior to a minimum in front of her teacher.

“Good morning Shikamaru!” She finally lost it and pounced on the boy, hugging him from behind.

“Uh.. aaah.. um.. Hi.” Shikamaru blushed a little, and kept his eyes trained to Asuma, whom he was speaking with. Asuma’s eyebrows rose at the sight as he took another drag from his cigarette.

“What do you mean by “Uh.. aah.. um.. Hi.”?!” Ino frowned, and let go of him quickly, then grabbed him by the shoulders and turned him around to face her.

“Uh.. I.. uh.. I’m just feeling..” He tugged at the collar of his jacket thing and diverted his eyes from her face.

“What.” Ino ground out through clenched teeth, a little annoyed with his sudden change in behavior.

Asuma blinked at the two, then turned around with a nonchalant wave. “I think I’ll leave you two alone, Seeya later!” He then disappeared in a whirl of smoke and leaves.

Shikamaru looked at where his teacher was, then around. “Well.. I just don’t know if we really are.. Um.. Well.. I don’t know if I want it.. out?” He scratched his head, flustered, as he stared up into the sky.

“Then you’re just saying you’re embarrassed to be with me?!” Ino nearly screeched, as her scowl deepened.

“No, no it’s not that.. its..” Shikamaru trailed off, not sure of what to say in fear of hurting her more.

“Fine, if you want it that way, then it’ll be like that. I’m going home.” The blond girl tried really hard not to sound fazed, but failed to as tears slid down her face to betray her feelings. She sniffed once, before staring down her nose angrily at him, then turning to stomp back up the street and headed home.

Shikamaru winced, then groaned and buried his face in his hands. Smooooooth, Shikamaru, real smooth. You’re just quite the talker this morning.

An idea came to his mind a short second later, and he smiled to himself. “You’re a genius,” He muttered under his breath, and gathered chakra in his feet before leaping onto the rooftops to take the quickest way possible to the Yamanaka Flower shop.

Upon reaching the flower shop, he quickly slipped in through the door, and picked a single deep red rose.  He strained a smile at the woman behind the counter, she was Ino’s mom, and he had to make some sort of good impression, right? Handing her the money for the rose, he walked over to the doorway and leaned in the shadow, waiting for Ino to return.

Ino stomped into the flower shop, only to have her arm grabbed. She turned to see Shikamaru and she glowered at him.

“What do you want Shikamaru?” She yanked her arm away, and crossed her arms over her chest.

“I’m.. I’m really sorry, I- I got you this.” He smiled apologetically and held out the single deep red rose. “It’s deep red, stands for shame. I’m ashamed of what I did earlier. Please forgive me.” He reached out and took her hand, and pressed the stem of the rose into it, then grasped her hand with both of his. “I hope you understand.”

Ino blushed and stared at the rose. “I.. I’m.. I don’t know what to say.” She stared at him, and was shocked at the sincere action.

“It was troublesome, and took a lot of work to get here before you, but I think it was worth it.” Shikamaru half smiled at her, before stepping forward and kissing her on the forehead gently. “Now, I need to go find Asuma again. I’ll see you later.”

He left without another word. Ino stared blankly out the door, then at the rose clutched in her hand. She then turned to walk towards her home in the back of the shop to find a vase to put it in.

“You know, he’s a very sweet boy. I think he’s a keeper.” Ino turned to see her mom smiling at her from the counter.

“Uh.. yeah.. he is. Thanks mom.” She blushed a deeper shade of red, and quickly walked past the counter, and her beaming mom.

Bleh.. now that I think of it.. I think I made this fanfic a little toooo cliché.. oh well, like I mentioned above, all my chapters are written whenever I feel it, and whatever I feel like writing.. so they tend to be extremely random, and have no real set plot. Well… what did you think about this new, really pathetic chapter? I hope to write more soon.. I just need to find time to do so.. and inspiration to do so.. Please write.
