Beyond Ambitions

(A/N: You will need to read the Naruto manga up to chapter 210 or you might not understand some of the events in my fic. I don’t know what happens in Naruto after chapter 213 in the manga so my story will probably have nothing to do with the events in the original Naruto after chapter 213.)

Chapter 1: The Solitary Leaf

It was dark, it was cold, and the fog was incredibly thick.  There were three ANBU laying on the ground. One of the ANBU was leaning on a tree, completely worn out, while the other two ANBU were on the ground in a bloody mess.  The three bodies surrounded a young man who then also collapsed to the ground exhausted; his red eyes with black swirling pupils reverting back to their normal pitch black.

“Uchiha…Sasuke…” The man heard from the one ANBU that was still alive. “Wh-why…?” Sasuke got up and looked at the remaining ANBU. “Why…,” continued the ANBU member, “…did you betray…the leaf?” Sasuke pulled out a kunai with an attached paper and threw it at the ANBU, hitting the tree the ANBU leaned on. The ANBU, expecting an explosion, was surprised that all he heard was the Uchiha talking to him.

“Give that message to the Hokage,” said Sasuke as he turned away and disappeared. The ANBU grabbed the messaged kunai and headed back to Konoha.

Sasuke was dead tired after the fight with the three ANBU.  His chakra reserves were almost fully depleted due to having to use his newly invented chidori combo twice. ‘Not good enough’ he thought as he headed towards an abandoned house he called home.

Finally reaching his door, Sasuke looked around to make sure nobody was there when he entered.  Suddenly, a sharp pain erupted from the back of his neck and spread through the rest of his body.

“DAMMIT, NOT AGAIN!” He screamed in agony. Grabbing the back of his neck he slowly made his way into his bedroom and collapsed onto the mattress on the floor.  ‘Can’t let it take over or I’ll never defeat him.’  The pain slowly subsided and he lay on his back forcing himself to remember why he was here in the first place.

*Flashback 6 years ago* (A/N: I hate to use these but I couldn’t think of another way)

Sasuke awoke and found himself surrounded completely by darkness.  He could feel himself move around in what seemed like a box… or a coffin.  For some reason he felt a lot stronger than he had ever felt before. Sasuke could feel power surging throughout his entire body. He tried to get out of wherever he was but realized that he couldn’t move his body at all.  ‘The hell…?’ he thought ‘Why can’t I move?’

“Saaassssuke,” He heard in a ghostly taunting voice.

‘Who are you? SHOW YOURSELF!’ Sasuke tried to talk but realized he couldn’t speak at all. All he could do was think.

“Don’t you remember me?” came the voice again. Suddenly, in the darkness stood a man with long black hair and snake-like eyes.

‘Orochimaru,’ thought Sasuke.

“Correct, Sasuke-kun” came the reply. It didn’t sound like Orochimaru, realized Sasuke. It sounded like…himself?

‘What the hell did you do to me? Why can’t I move? Why can’t I talk? ANSWER ME!’

“HAHAHAHA!” he heard himself reply. “Don’t you remember Sasuke? YOU came to ME seeking power. But with my power comes a price.”

‘What do you mean?’

“I now control you Sasuke-kun.”

‘Arrgghh! YOU CAN”T CONTROL ME!’ Sasuke tried to move but again, his attempts were futile. ‘DAMMIT OROCHIMARU! Give me back control of my body. I never agreed to this’ A bright light filled his vision followed by the sound of an explosion.  As the light slowly dissipated, Sasuke found himself in an open field of grass; the power he felt while he was in the coffin was slowly fading away.

“Sasuke, what the hell are you doing with these guys!? Let’s head back! Come on!” Sasuke heard.

‘It’s Naruto!’ he realized. ‘NARUTO!’ he tried to say but all he heard coming out of himself was laughter.

Naruto stood a few feet away from him. There was someone standing next to Sasuke, but he couldn’t figure out who it was. The mysterious person was holding a large sharpened bone as a weapon.

“HAHAHAHAHAHAHA” he heard himself laugh. Sasuke knew it was Orochimaru but he couldn’t do anything about it.

‘GET OUT OF MY BODY NOW!  ORICHIMARU!’ he mentally yelled. The only reply he got was more laughter.

“HAHAHAHAHA”

“Hey Sasuke… Dammit, can’t you hear me?” he heard the blond boy say.

‘Damn that dobe-kun, I hope he realizes it’s not me before it’s too late’ thought Sasuke. At that thought Sasuke found himself moving towards the forest.

“Hey! Wait Sasuke!” he heard Naruto yell. But all he could do was watch himself move through the forest.

‘Shit!’ he thought ‘What am I going to do?’ All of a sudden, a searing pain was felt at the back of his neck. ‘The Seal,’ he thought, ‘have to use my willpower.’

Deep within the recesses of his mind, he saw Orochimaru. “Get out of me, Orochimaru!” Sasuke could feel power surging through him and he realized it came from the seal that Kakashi had given him.

“HAHAHAHA, you think that seal will do you any good, Sasuke?” Orochimaru raised his hand and a pair of snakes flew out heading towards Sasuke. The snakes were about to hit Sasuke but were stopped by an invisible barrier.  Sasuke leapt back and held his left arm.  Chakra started forming around his hand and in no time it became clearly visible.

“Hmm… chidori,” muttered Orochimaru, “you can’t defeat me with that technique here, Sasuke.”

“SHUT UP,” he yelled as he activated his sharingan and charged towards Orochimaru at a blinding speed.  Right when he hit, Orochimaru disappeared. “No way!? Was it a Bunshin!?”

“Behind you, Sasuke-kun.” Sasuke quickly turned around to see Orochimaru and jumped away just as quickly. “You can’t defeat me here with physical attacks. Don’t you remember we are inside your mind?”

“SHUT UP,” he yelled again as he charged up another chidori. “GET OUT OF MY BODY NOW!”

Orochimaru just stood silent for a while, as if in thought. “HAHAHA, very well,” replied Orochimaru in an indifferent tone. “I won’t be able to transfer myself into you for another few years anyways. Till then, I’ll let you do as you please.”

“What!?!?” exclaimed Sasuke who was confused at the sudden decision.

“I have already switched bodies due to the inability of the five sounds to bring you to me in time. Now I must wait another few years before I can claim your body. But remember Sasuke-kun, I will return.” Orochimaru started to walk away then stopped, “If you want to kill me, Sasuke-kun, live miserably… hate me… survive through the ugliness.  Run…run…learn to survive.” And with those words, Orochimaru disappeared and Sasuke’s vision was filled with trees.

‘Those words…’ he thought, ‘They are the same as my brother’s.’ Trembling, Sasuke realized he could move his own body again.  He got up and headed back towards the village.

On his way to the village, Sasuke was in deep thought asking himself several questions. ‘Should I go help Naruto and the others? Should I go ask for Tsunade’s help? Should I stay in the village?’ He considered.  He then shunned the thoughts thinking that the village would probably just lock him up somewhere knowing that Orochimaru could control him now.  If he stayed in the village, he would never be able to take his revenge on his brother Itachi either.  So he decided that he would just go home to pick up some supplies and leave Konoha for good.

When he got to his house, he realized that the door was open. Sasuke thought nothing of it and went inside. He heard somebody in his living room and instinctively grabbed a kunai out of his pouch. He looked on the couch and was surprised to see a familiar pink haired kunoichi quietly sobbing.

‘Sakura,’ he thought, ‘why is she here?’ Sasuke wanted to go and talk to her but then he remembered the last time they had met.  ‘Probably best not to let anyone know,’ he thought and continued to his room to grab supplies.

In his room, Sasuke grabbed a few changes of clothes, his kunai, his shuriken, and a few scrolls and stuffed it all into his backpack. He scanned his room one last time for anything else worth bringing.  His eyes landed a picture of himself with Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi.  He picked it up and debated whether or not to bring it.  Pain suddenly lashed out on the back of his neck forcing him to drop the portrait, smashing it in the process.

‘DAMN, NOT AGAIN! NOT NOW!’ he thought to himself.

------

Sakura was sitting on the couch, quietly crying and hoping for Naruto to bring Sasuke back safely when she heard something like glass being smashed in the room above her.

“Who’s there!?” she demanded.  When she was replied by silence, she decided to go take a look herself.  She crept up into Sasuke’s bedroom holding a kunai in her hands.  “Huh!?” she exclaimed.  The room was almost empty except for a bed and a broken portrait on the floor and the window was open.  Sakura looked through the window but saw nobody outside.  She picked up the broken portrait only to find the picture was missing. “Strange,” she said to herself, “Who would want…”  Her eyes widened in surprise.  ‘Sasuke-kun’ she thought as she glared out the window.

------

‘That was close,’ thought Sasuke as he was moving through the forest. ‘Where to now…?’ he asked himself.  Sasuke decided that anywhere away from Konoha would be best so he headed towards the wave country thinking only of ways he can train himself.

*End Flashback* (A/N: Sorry about the really long flashback but I was too lazy to come up with another way to reveal his past)

Its been 6 years since his last day in Konoha and Orochimaru has not bothered him yet.  Sasuke had no regrets leaving Konoha since he was able to train himself to near death almost everyday without having to do any annoying missions.

Other than the fact that Sasuke had grown taller and more muscular, his looks pretty much remained the same as it was six years ago.  He wore a black T-shirt underneath a Black jacket with the Uchiha symbol (the fan) on the back of it.  He wore black pants that were a little baggy but had small pouches to hold his scrolls, kunai, and shuriken.  Nobody from the village of Konoha would probably notice this but Sasuke has become a lot stronger since six years ago.  His chakra control was nearly perfect and he had developed many new advanced original ninjutsu and taijutsu on his own.  Most importantly, Sasuke has mastered his Sharingan.  Six years ago, he had only two pupils in each of his eyes but now there are three in each.  Sasuke is now able to use Tsukuyomi genjutsu but it eats up most of his chakra.

‘Still not strong enough,’ he thought as he recalled the fight with the three ANBU.  He turned his eyes towards the one picture that he had, the picture of the old team seven.  ‘Maybe I’ll return someday, but first, I must accomplish my ambitions…’ then he hesitated and thought ‘…no, they are beyond ambitions now.’

“I must kill Itachi and free myself from Orochimaru,” he whispered to himself before falling asleep.
